- All applications are made through Work and Income.
DISABILITY ALLOWANCE FOR COUNSELLING
- You can apply for WINZ Disability Allowance if you need help funding your counselling sessions.
CELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE DISABILITY ALLOWANCE
- You do not have to be on a benefit to be eligible for the disability allowance.
- You can apply if you have a disability likely to last more than 6 months.
- You can apply if you are a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident.
- You can apply if you have ongoing costs incurred because of your disability that another agency does not fully cover.
- You can apply for yourself, your partner or your child.
HOW TO APPLY FOR DISABILITY ALLOWANCE
1. If you are already on a benefit, obtain disability certificate for counselling form and take these to your local GP.
2. If you are a new WINZ client obtain the disability certificate for counselling form and take these to your local GP.
3. You will be assessed by a Doctor who will complete their part of the disability certificate (counselling).
4. Please complete the section on the form relevant to you. (client)
5. I can complete the counselling part of the application form. I am a Work and Income New Zealand, approved counsellor.
6. The maximum disability allowance is $80.35 a week x 10. This will cover your maximum cost per session as I charge $80.00 a week.
7. When your form is completed by yourself, a doctor and a counsellor (myself) it is ready to be submitted to Work and Income New Zealand.
8. I can submit the form on your behalf after I have completed the counselling section of the application form.
